Activision just dropped the beta schedule for Call of Duty Modern Warfare 4, and honestly, it’s sneaking up fast. The full game lands October 23, 2026, but players who pre-order will get their hands on it way earlier than that.

Here’s the full breakdown of when you can jump in.

Early Access Kicks Off August 21

Early access runs from August 21 to August 25, 2026. That’s a five-day window exclusive to PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PlayStation 5 owners who’ve pre-ordered the game before those dates hit.

No pre-order, no early access. That’s the deal Activision has stuck with for years now, and MW4 isn’t breaking the pattern.

Open Beta Follows Right After

Once early access wraps up, the open beta takes over from August 28 to September 1, 2026. This part is for everyone. No purchase needed, and it’s rolling out across every supported platform, including Nintendo Switch 2 for the first time.

So even if you skipped the pre-order, you’ll still get a shot at the game before launch.

What You’ll Actually Get to Play

Both phases bring a solid chunk of content. Expect multiple multiplayer maps, several game modes, and a wide Operator roster, including all the Vault Edition Operators if you’ve splurged on the premium pre-order tier.

Weapon-wise, players will be able to unlock up to 19 different guns during the beta period. Match sizes will also swing wildly, from tight 3v3 skirmishes all the way up to large-scale battles with tanks in the mix.

Activision has teased exclusive beta rewards too, along with more surprises they say will be revealed over the coming weeks. So keep an eye out.

One thing worth flagging: the campaign stays locked the entire time. That’s standard for Call of Duty betas at this point, so nobody should be caught off guard.

DMZ Is Coming Back, With a Twist

The extraction-style DMZ mode is officially confirmed to return, and this time it’ll launch alongside the full game instead of coming later. The bigger news is a new dynamic weather system that’s supposed to actively change how matches play out, not just look pretty in the background.

If MW4 pulls that off, it could be one of the more interesting additions to the mode in a while.

Is Modern Warfare 4 Really the Biggest CoD Yet?

Activision is pitching Modern Warfare 4 as the biggest multiplayer entry in the franchise’s history. That’s a big claim, but between the beta scale, weapon count, and mode variety being teased, they’re clearly not holding back this time around.

Are you planning to jump into the early access, or waiting for the open beta? Drop your thoughts in the comments and let us know which Operators you’re most excited to try out.
