Halo Campaign Evolved Release Date, Editions, and Pre-Order Bonuses

Halo: Campaign Evolved finally has a launch date. Microsoft confirmed at the Xbox Games Showcase 2026 that the game drops globally on July 28, 2026, and pre-orders are already open on Xbox, Steam, and PlayStation.

Premium and Collector’s Edition buyers get up to five days of early access starting July 23.

What Is Halo: Campaign Evolved?

Halo: Campaign Evolved is a full remake of the original Halo: Combat Evolved campaign, rebuilt from scratch for Xbox Series X|S, Windows PC, and PlayStation 5. The 10-mission classic that launched the franchise is back, and it looks like Halo Studios has added quite a bit on top.

The game is an Xbox Play Anywhere title, so one purchase covers both Xbox and PC. It also lands day one on Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass, making it one of the biggest Game Pass additions of 2026. Cross-play and cross-progression work across Xbox Series X|S, PC (both Microsoft Store and Steam), and PS5.

Operation: METEORITE — The Brand New Story Arc

Every edition of the game includes Operation: METEORITE, a three-mission story arc set one year before the events of the original Halo.

Master Chief and Sgt. Johnson are sent on a covert UNSC mission aboard a Covenant research vessel. What starts as a quick smash-and-grab turns into something far messier. Players will explore new locations, fight new enemy types including the Brute Berserker, use weapons pulled from across the Halo series, and even take combat into space.

The story was written in collaboration with sci-fi author Troy Denning, a veteran of the Halo expanded universe with multiple acclaimed novels to his name. His involvement gives Operation: METEORITE the grounded military sci-fi feel the series is known for.

Three Editions and What You Get

Standard Edition: $49.99 The full game including the original 10-mission campaign and Operation: METEORITE.

Premium Edition: $69.99 Everything in Standard, plus up to five days of early access from July 23, the Alpha Halo Armory Pack with five Master Chief armor skins and six weapon skins, and the Digital Story and Art Collection. That collection includes a new short story by Troy Denning titled Halo: Hungry Buzzards set before Operation: METEORITE, a digital artbook, and a digital game manual styled after the original 2001 release.

Collector’s Edition: $199.99 Everything in Premium, plus a 12-inch Dark Horse Master Chief statue, a light-up LED Cortana chip, a Steelbook case, three original concept art prints, a physical version of the reimagined game manual, and a game disc for Xbox Series X and PS5. This edition is only available through HaloWaypoint.com.

All pre-orders across every edition come with the Foundry Armory Pack, which includes the Classic 2001 Mark V Armor skin, Classic 2001 Assault Rifle skin, Gilded Onyx Armor style, and Gilded Onyx Assault Rifle style.

Release Date and Where to Pre-Order

Halo: Campaign Evolved launches globally on July 28, 2026 at 8 AM PDT. Players in Japan and select Asia-Pacific markets get access on July 29. Early access for Premium and Collector’s Edition owners starts July 23 at 8 AM PDT.

Pre-orders are live now on the Xbox Store, Steam, and PlayStation Store. The Collector’s Edition is exclusive to HaloWaypoint.com.

This is one of the most anticipated Xbox releases of 2026, and with Game Pass day-one inclusion and full PS5 support, it is going to reach a massive audience.
