Pearl Abyss dropped a brand new patch for Crimson Desert today, and it is packed. Version 1.04.00 went live on April 23, 2026, and it fixes some things that players have been asking about since launch.
If you have been waiting to jump back in, now is probably a good time. Here is a full detailed patch notes version 1.04.00.
Crimson Desert Inventory Finally Makes Sense
The single biggest quality-of-life change in this patch is the inventory overhaul. Pearl Abyss has added category tabs that split your items into All, Documents, Equipment, Food, Materials, and Others.
That might sound small, but anyone who has dug through a packed inventory looking for a single piece of gear knows how much this matters. Your sort settings for each tab are also saved, so you are not starting from scratch every time you reload the game.
The same tab system is coming to private storage soon, according to the patch notes.
Crimson Desert Map Filters and Search Feature
Alongside the inventory changes, the map now has a Filters and Search function. You can also see icons for Memory Fragments you have already picked up, which should help a lot with completion tracking.
It is a small addition, but it saves a surprising amount of frustration mid-session.
New Stuff to Find and Buy
This patch adds 13 new tattoos for character customization. On top of that, livestock vendors have been scattered across Pywel. You can now buy cows, pigs, goats, sheep, ducks, and chickens from these NPCs.
There are also new cooking animations specifically for vegetables, meat, and fish. Tumbleweeds have been added to desert regions, which is a nice atmospheric touch.
Cloudcart Now a Permanent Mount in Crimson Desert
One of the more notable gameplay changes: the cloudcart has been upgraded to a permanent mount. Previously it was more of a temporary vehicle. Pearl Abyss also changed the crafting mission for it so that it can only be completed once.
For Damiane players, Quick Reload can now be acquired through Abyss Artifacts, not just skill observation. That gives you more flexibility in how you build the character.
Bug Fixes That Actually Matter
A few annoying bugs got squashed. The game was crashing when players tried to retry bosses as Damiane or Oongka. That is now fixed.
The bounty system also got a correction. If your bounty is too high to hand over a target normally, bringing them to the Constabulary will now trigger an arrest state instead of the handover cutscene. It is a small thing, but it was clearly breaking immersion for a lot of people.
The Display Weapons setting was also not applying properly in certain cutscenes. That is fixed too.
What’s Coming Next
Pearl Abyss is not slowing down. The studio teased a large patch earlier this month covering boss rematches, difficulty settings, a more dynamic blockade system, new skills for Damiane and Oongka, new outfits, more pets and mounts, control customization, and better storage options.
These features are not all dropping at once. They are rolling out gradually between now and June.
One thing a lot of players are excited about is the promised improvement to distant scenery quality. Right now, the game’s draw distance is impressive, but objects far away can look noticeably rough. Pearl Abyss has said enhanced realism for distant backgrounds is coming.
The Bigger Picture
Crimson Desert had a messy launch. Reviews were mixed, and the control scheme drew a lot of criticism. But the game has held on to a player count in the hundreds of thousands on Steam, which is unusual for a single-player title.
The pace of updates is clearly part of why. Pearl Abyss has been releasing patches consistently since launch, listening to feedback, and actually shipping fixes.
The upcoming boss rematches and difficulty settings could pull back players who bounced off the game early. For the people still in Pywel, though, each week is genuinely adding something new. That is not nothing.
If you are playing Crimson Desert, update your game now and check out the new inventory tabs. And if you stopped playing after launch, this might be a good time to see what has changed.
