If you’ve been trying to use Claude AI lately and keep running into errors, you’re definitely not alone. Anthropic’s popular AI assistant has been dealing with a string of outages through March 2026, and users are understandably frustrated.
What’s Happening Right Now
As of today, March 25, Claude.ai is showing a partial outage that started around 13:45 UTC. Anthropic says it is actively investigating the issue. Earlier in the day, there was a separate problem that was resolved by 13:10 UTC, after engineers spent several hours looking into it since 09:35 UTC.
So yes, it has been a rough day for Claude users.
A Rough Few Weeks
This isn’t a one-off. Claude has had multiple outages this month alone.
On March 23, more than 2,140 users flagged problems with Claude Chat on outage-tracking platforms, even though Anthropic’s own status page was showing “All Systems Operational” at the time. That kind of mismatch between what users experience and what the status page says can be especially frustrating.
Before that, on March 17, things got even worse. Over 10,000 users reported issues at the peak of that outage, making it one of the bigger disruptions of the month. Anthropic acknowledged the problem and worked on fixes while the investigation was underway.
What Started All This
The problems seem to have kicked off in earnest on March 2, when a major worldwide outage hit Claude, with elevated errors reported across all platforms. The incident was flagged at 11:30 UTC and affected users across multiple regions.
That timing was not a coincidence. The surge in traffic followed a wave of new users flooding in after Claude shot to the top of the App Store charts. The spike in attention came after news broke about Anthropic’s dispute with the Pentagon over AI safeguards, which put the company, and its products, in the spotlight.
More users, more load, and the system struggled to keep up.
The Bigger Picture
To be fair to Anthropic, Claude.ai has maintained a 99.24% uptime over the past 90 days. That is a strong record overall. The Claude API and Claude Code also remained largely unaffected during most of these incidents, which means developers using the API likely saw far fewer disruptions than regular Claude.ai users.
Still, multiple outages in a single month is something users are right to take note of, especially if they rely on Claude for daily work.
