Sony has jumped the gun on its August 2026 PlayStation Plus announcement.
Before revealing the full monthly lineup, PlayStation has officially confirmed that Big Walk will be one of the free PS Plus Essential games arriving next month. The announcement came earlier than expected, giving subscribers an early look at one of August’s biggest additions before Sony unveils the complete lineup later this week.

Big Walk Joins PS Plus Essential on August 4
Big Walk will be available to all PlayStation Plus Essential subscribers starting August 4, 2026.
Developed by House House, the Australian studio behind the award-winning Untitled Goose Game, Big Walk offers a cooperative multiplayer experience focused on exploration, communication, and solving puzzles together.
Unlike competitive multiplayer games, Big Walk encourages players to work as a team while navigating a colorful open world filled with mysteries and interactive environments. Communication is a core gameplay mechanic, making it a title designed for groups of friends rather than solo play.
The game also launches on PC and Nintendo Switch 2 on the same day, making its PlayStation Plus debut a day-one addition for subscribers.

More PS Plus Games Will Be Revealed Soon
While Big Walk is now confirmed, Sony has yet to announce the remaining two PS Plus Essential games for August.
The company is expected to reveal the complete Essential lineup on Wednesday, July 29, alongside the monthly additions coming to the Extra and Premium catalogs.
As usual, subscribers can expect three monthly Essential games that remain claimable for several weeks before being replaced by September’s lineup.
July’s Extra Catalog Still Has One More Update
Before August begins, PlayStation Plus Extra subscribers still have another batch of games arriving.
The July catalog update includes:
- Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Rita’s Rewind
- Dying Light
- Snow Bros. Wonderland
- Citizen Sleeper 2: Starward Vector
The lineup offers a wide variety of genres, ranging from zombie survival and side-scrolling action to narrative-driven RPG experiences.

Sony has confirmed that nine games will leave the PS Plus Extra and Premium catalogs on August 18, 2026.
