Sony just wrapped up its PlayStation State of Play for June 2026, and the show ran for over 60 minutes. That is a lot of ground to cover, so we broke down every major announcement you need to know about, ranked by how big of a deal it actually is.
No filler. Just the good stuff.
God of War Laufey — The Biggest Reveal of the Show

Nobody saw this coming, and that is exactly how Sony wanted it.
The State of Play closed with the reveal of God of War Laufey, the next mainline chapter in Santa Monica Studio’s legendary franchise. And the twist? Kratos is not the main character this time. Laufey, also known as Faye, the warrior wife of Kratos played by Deborah Ann Woll, takes the lead. Her mission is to fight through the afterlife of the gods to save the ones she loves.
This is a genuinely interesting creative direction. Faye was a background figure across two games and her death is literally what kicked off the whole Norse saga. Putting her front and center in her own story could pay off in a big way.
No release date yet, but the extended gameplay preview looked polished.
Marvel’s Wolverine — Finally, A Real Look

The show opened with a closer look at Marvel’s Wolverine from Insomniac Games. And after years of waiting, the new gameplay trailer finally gave fans a proper sense of how the combat works.
Insomniac said they evolved the combo-and-counter-focused combat from the Spider-Man series to be faster and less “punchy,” making for an experience that looks significantly more violent than Peter Parker’s adventures.
That tracks. Wolverine is not exactly the type to hold back. If Insomniac pulls this off with the same level of polish as Spider-Man 2, it could be one of the best superhero games ever made.
Still no release date, but the footage looked very close to done.
Until Dawn 2 — Surprise Reveal
This one caught everyone off guard. Until Dawn 2 was revealed during the showcase, and details are still light at this point. The original Until Dawn from 2015 built a cult following with its butterfly-effect horror structure, and a sequel has been rumored for years.
No gameplay was shown beyond a teaser, but the fact that it is officially confirmed is big news for horror fans.
Control Resonant — September 24 Launch Date Confirmed
Remedy finally locked in a date. Control Resonant launches globally on PlayStation 5 on September 24.
The new story trailer showed a Manhattan warped by paranatural forces, with impossible architecture, shifting realities, and monstrous entities roaming the streets. The main character Dylan must master evolving abilities and a shapeshifting weapon called the Aberrant to push deeper into the city. Jesse Faden also returns.
Control 2013 was a beloved cult hit. Control Resonant looks like Remedy is swinging even bigger this time around.
Silent Hill: Downfall — September 2026 Release Date
Silent Hill: Townfall received a September 2026 release date alongside a new terrifying look at Konami’s new horror game.
The Silent Hill franchise has had a rocky road over the past decade, but the recent wave of new entries looks genuinely promising. Whether Downfall delivers the psychological dread the series is known for remains to be seen.
Onimusha: Way of the Sword — September Launch, Demo Out Now
Capcom confirmed Onimusha: Way of the Sword is coming this September, and a demo launched the same day as the State of Play.
That is a rare move. Releasing a demo the same day as a major reveal shows confidence. Onimusha has been dormant for years, and fans of the samurai action-horror genre have been waiting a long time for this one.
Go try the demo right now if you are curious.
Dune: Awakening — Coming to PS5 on September 22
The PC survival game finally has a PS5 launch date. Dune: Awakening arrives on PlayStation 5 on September 22 as a definitive version of the game, featuring a brand new single-player mode, a new chapter in its cinematic storyline, and numerous additional improvements.
The single-player mode is new information and a smart addition. The PC version skewed heavily toward online survival, which put off a chunk of players. Adding a proper solo experience should open the game up to a much bigger audience on console.
Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve — October 2
Bandai Namco’s aerial combat sim arrives on PS5 on October 2, promising a thrilling campaign with new tactical maneuvers, colossal enemy aircraft encounters, and 30 different planes including real-world fighters and fictional models.
Ace Combat fans have been waiting years for a numbered sequel. October 2 is the date to mark.
Rayman Legends Retold — October 1, 3D Remake
Ubisoft confirmed the long-rumored Rayman Legends remake called Rayman Legends Retold. The remake adopts a full 3D art style and adds a brand new villain, story, and levels. It launches October 1.
The original Rayman Legends was one of the best platformers of its generation. A modern remake with new content is a welcome surprise.
Bancho the Chef — Dave the Diver Gets a Prequel
Bancho the Chef is a standalone prequel to Dave the Diver. It follows Bancho, the cook who aided Dave in the original game, as he travels the world learning culinary techniques from local masters. The game blends cooking simulation, restaurant management, and RPG elements.
Mintrocket confirmed the game uses PS5 DualSense features to make the cooking feel more tactile.
Dave the Diver was one of the more charming games in recent memory, so a prequel focused on Bancho is a good call.
Dynasty Warriors 3: Complete Edition Remastered — October 1
Dynasty Warriors 3 and Dynasty Warriors 3: Xtreme Legends are both coming to PS5 as one combined remastered package on October 1.
A good pick-up-and-play game for fans of the musou genre.
Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls — New Characters Revealed
Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls revealed three new playable characters: Magneto, Green Goblin, and Carnage. The trailer showed gameplay for all three, with Carnage looking particularly brutal in action.
The Marvel fighting game roster keeps growing, and these are three heavy hitters.
Marathon — Season 2 and Open Play Week
Marathon’s Season 2 went live the same day as the showcase. An Open Play Week runs from June 2 to June 9, with no PlayStation Plus membership required to access the game.
If you have been on the fence about Marathon, now is the time to try it for free.
Phantom Blade Zero — Deep Dive Coming This Summer
S-GAME’s Phantom Blade Zero got a brief update confirming that a deep gameplay dive is coming at the end of Summer 2026.
The game has been generating a lot of buzz based on early footage. Fans will have to wait a little longer for more details.
Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis — Delayed
Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis received a delay confirmation at the State of Play, though a new release window was not announced.
Lara Croft apparently got a visual upgrade to go along with the extra development time. Silver lining, at least.
Bottom Line
This was a strong show from Sony. God of War Laufey and Until Dawn 2 were the two biggest surprises, and Marvel’s Wolverine finally looks like a finished game worth getting excited about. The fall 2026 release calendar is absolutely packed now between Control Resonant, Onimusha, Silent Hill: Downfall, Dune: Awakening, Ace Combat 8, and more.
PS5 owners have a busy few months ahead.
