BGMI just dropped its biggest update of the year, and it’s not subtle about it. The 4.5 update went live on July 16, and Hidden Leaf Village is now sitting right on top of Erangel.

If you’ve been seeing Naruto teasers on KRAFTON’s social pages for weeks, this is what they were building up to.

When You’ll Actually Get It

KRAFTON is rolling this out in stages, so don’t panic if it’s not showing up the second you open the app.

Here’s how the day breaks down:

  • Android (Play Store): Started at 7:30 AM IST
  • iOS (App Store): Fully live by 11:30 AM IST
  • APK download: Available on the official BGMI site from 12:30 PM IST

Krafton says the whole rollout wraps up by 3:30 PM IST across both platforms. If the update button isn’t there yet, close the store app, wait an hour, and check again. It’s not broken, it’s just your turn hasn’t come up.

The Naruto Collab Is Genuinely Massive

This isn’t a skin pack with a Naruto logo slapped on. KRAFTON rebuilt chunks of Erangel and Livik to look like they were pulled straight out of the anime.

You’ll be dropping into Hidden Leaf Village, climbing Hokage Rock, grabbing a bowl at Ichiraku Ramen Shop, and fighting near the Valley of the End. There’s a Ninja Academy in there too, plus a Chunin Exam Arena for anyone who wants the full nostalgia hit.

And the mode has a name: Ninjas Assemble. It runs from July 16 all the way to September 14, so there’s no rush to grind it out this weekend.

Rasengan, Chidori, and a Fox That Wants to Kill You

The gameplay changes are where this update gets interesting for anyone who actually plays competitively, not just collects skins.

New Ninjutsu abilities dropping in:

  • Rasengan – charge it up, dash forward, and blow enemies back with area damage
  • Chidori – a fast single-target dash attack, tap for a quick hit or hold to charge into a sprint
  • Flying Raijin Jutsu – throw a kunai, then teleport straight to it (combine this with Rasengan and it gets nasty)
  • Great Fireball Jutsu – charged ranged shots, faster and farther the longer you hold
  • Shadow Clone Jutsu – summons a clone to confuse enemies, though there’s a chance it botches the animation and turns into a smokescreen decoy instead
  • Ninja Run – boosted movement speed and jump height, and yes, you can run across water now
  • Mud Wall – raise a cover wall on command, though it goes down fast if someone hits it with Rasengan, Chidori, or a grenade

There’s also a rare recall ability that lets you bring back a fallen teammate without burning your Recall Tower charge, and KRAFTON built in voice-activated Ninjutsu, so certain skills can be triggered just by talking into your mic.

Then there’s the big one: a boss fight against Kurama, the Nine-Tailed Fox, dropped right into the middle of matches.

Spider-Man Is Coming Too, Just Not Yet

The Naruto collab is the headline, but it’s not the only thing in 4.5. KRAFTON confirmed a Spider-Man: Brand New Day event arriving inside the same update on July 30, timed to the movie’s Indian theatrical release that same day. That mode runs through September 14 as well.

Should You Update Right Now?

Casual players should just jump in whenever the rollout reaches their device. There’s a lot to look at, and honestly the anime locations alone justify a few matches.

For anyone grinding ranked, the good news is the Naruto content and Ninjutsu abilities live in their own event modes, not core Battle Royale, so your ladder games should be untouched. Still, check in-game after you update. KRAFTON has shuffled mode availability after launch before, and it’s better to know that than to get surprised mid-queue.

One thing to flag before you head out: the current Royal Pass season ends on July 16 too, and KRAFTON hasn’t announced dates for the next one yet. So if you’re sitting on unused pass rewards, clear them out before the update settles in.

Got the update installed already? Drop a comment with what you think of the Naruto locations, and check back here for the A20 Royal Pass details the second KRAFTON confirms them.
