Got a free weekend and an Xbox sitting there judging you for not using it? Good news. Xbox Free Play Days just dropped another solid lineup, and for a few days you can play these games without spending a dime.
Here’s everything you need to know about what’s free right now, how long you’ve got, and how to actually grab them.
How Xbox Free Play Days Actually Works
This one’s easy. No hidden steps, no weird sign-ups.
If a game needs Xbox Game Pass, just log in with an eligible Ultimate, Premium, or Essential subscription and you’re set.
Here’s the quick version:
- Open the Microsoft Store on your console.
- Find the Free Play Days section for this week.
- Hit install, or buy it at a discount if you’re eligible.
One thing worth knowing: your achievements and progress stick around even after the trial ends. So if you fall in love with a game and buy it later, you’re not starting from scratch.
Most of these games are also on sale for the weekend, so if you want to keep playing past the trial, this is the time to do it.

This Week’s Free Games (July 23 to August 4)
Five games made the cut this time, though not all of them run on the same clock. Some wrap up July 26, and a couple stick around longer.

Tides of Tomorrow
This one’s not your typical run-and-shoot game. It’s built around your choices, kind of like Dispatch.
You’re sailing through a flooded world, poking around abandoned settlements, piecing together what happened as you go. Slower pace, more atmosphere. A nice break if you’re tired of the usual action stuff.
Metal Gear Solid – Master Collection Version
Stealth fans, this is your pick. The Master Collection brings back the original games, Snake Eater included, without messing with what made them great.
Sneaking through Shadow Moses still hits different years later. You’re reading patrol routes, checking camera angles, and trying not to get spotted rather than just guns-blazing through everything. If you grew up on this series, it’s a genuine hit of nostalgia.
Bleach Rebirth of Souls
Anime fighters are a crowded genre, and a lot of them feel shallow once the flashy animations wear off. Bleach Rebirth of Souls is a rare one that actually holds up.
It nails the Bankai transformations and signature moves, sure, but it also gets the Konpaku mechanics right, which is where a lot of these games usually cut corners. Matches shift on well-timed counters and awakenings instead of just chipping away at a health bar.

Killing Floor 3
If your plan for the weekend is couch co-op with friends, this is the pick. Every wave ramps up fast, and staying alive comes down to how well your squad works together.
You get dual pistols, explosive gear, rifles, and heavier firearms to mess around with, so there’s room to find a loadout that fits how you like to play.
For Honor
For Honor is almost 10 years old at this point, and it still has one of the best melee combat systems on Xbox. You’re not just mashing buttons, you’re timing attacks, throwing feints, reading counters, and watching your stamina bar.
It takes a while to get good at it. But landing a clean parry never stops feeling good, and since it’s free through August 4, you’ve got extra time to actually get the hang of it compared to the other games here.
