The wait is over. Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls kicked off its open beta today, and unlike most betas that make you jump through hoops, this one just wants you to hit download.
The beta went live at 12:00 a.m. PT / 3 a.m. ET on July 24 and sticks around for a full 72 hours, wrapping up on July 26. That’s an entire weekend to see if this Marvel tag-fighter earns a spot in your library before it fully launches on August 6.
No Sign-Up, No Catch
Here’s the part that’s going to save you some frustration: there’s no registration required. You don’t need a code, an invite, or a pre-order receipt. Just go to the store on your platform of choice and download it.
That also means no PS Plus subscription is needed to play, though you will still need an internet connection and an active PlayStation account if you’re on console.

Full crossplay is supported across all three, so your friend on PC can throw hands with you on console without any hassle. If you want a head start, pre-downloads open up two hours before the beta actually goes live.

Who’s on the Roster
Out of the 20 characters planned for the full game, 16 are playable in this beta. That includes fan favorites like Blade, giving you a solid taste of the roster before launch.
Four characters are being held back for the full release: Hulk, Carnage, Loki, and Deadpool. So if your main is one of those four, you’ll have to wait until August to get your hands on them.

What You Can Actually Do
This isn’t a stripped-down demo. The beta includes:
- Ranked and Casual online matches
- Local Versus against a friend or the CPU
- A social lobby where you can hang out, chat, and challenge other players at arcade cabinets scattered around
Arc System Works, the studio behind Guilty Gear and Dragon Ball FighterZ, built Marvel Tokon as a 4v4 tag-fighter, so expect a lot of team-building experimentation this weekend. With 15 to 16 characters in the mix, this is your chance to test a few different squads before you commit to a main lineup at launch.

If you’ve been on the fence about Marvel Tokon, this beta weekend is basically a free trial with almost the full experience attached. No commitment, no cost, and enough content to actually get a feel for the combat before spending money in August.
