Something went wrong with League of Legends on Tuesday evening, and if you were trying to log in around 5:25 PM PT, you already know exactly how that went.
Reports of issues started piling up fast on Downdetector, the site that tracks outages in real time. At 5:25 PM PT, there were already over 3,000 complaints. By 5:45 PM PT, just twenty minutes later, that number had shot up to nearly 10,000. That is a steep climb in a very short window.
So What Was Actually Breaking?
The most common problem, reported by around 60% of affected players, was the game simply not launching. After that, the two big complaints were failing to connect to the server and login errors. Basically, if you wanted to get into a game Tuesday night, the odds were not great.
The terms “League of Legends down” and “LOL down” were both trending on Google during the outage, which tells you just how many people got hit at roughly the same time.

What Did Riot Say?
This is where it gets a little odd. Despite thousands of players flooding Downdetector with reports, Riot Games’ own server status checker showed no issues. Nothing. Officially, everything was fine.

That gap between what players were experiencing and what the official status page showed is something the LoL community is pretty familiar with by now. Riot’s status page tends to lag behind the actual situation, and social media almost always catches the problem first.
Is League of Legends Back Up Now?
Yes. As of June 24, League of Legends appears to be running normally. Outage trackers are only picking up around five user reports in the last hour, which is well within the normal range. The servers seem stable again.
There is one thing worth keeping an eye on though. Riot has Patch 26.13 maintenance scheduled for 1:30 PM PDT today (Wednesday, June 24). That means there could be planned downtime coming up, and it would be a good idea to not start a ranked game right before that window hits.

Patch 26.13 Also Dropped Today
Alongside all of this, Riot released the Patch 26.13 notes earlier today. New skins include Broken Covenant Jhin, Broken Covenant Aurora, Broken Covenant Shen, High Noon Akshan, and High Noon Locke. All of them went live on June 24.
So even with the server chaos yesterday, there is actually good stuff landing today.
Bottom Line
The Tuesday evening outage was real, hit fast, and affected a lot of players. Riot’s status tools did not flag it, but Downdetector told the full story. Right now the servers are back up, but with patch maintenance later today, you might want to plan your sessions around that 1:30 PM PDT window.
