Forza Horizon 6 Leaked — Playground Games Issuing Hardware Bans

Forza Horizon 6 has leaked online, and Playground Games is not playing around.

On May 11, the developer posted on X confirming that a pre-release build of the game had been obtained without authorization. What made this unusual was the studio’s immediate clarification: this was not a Steam pre-load accident. The files were sourced elsewhere, and the studio has started tracking down anyone who accessed them.

“We are taking strict enforcement action against any individuals found accessing this build including franchise-wide and hardware bans,” Playground Games wrote on X. Anyone playing the leaked version risks losing access to the entire Forza franchise and getting their hardware flagged on Xbox and PC.

How Did Forza Horizon 6 Leak?

Earlier reports pointed to a Steam pre-load issue. On May 10, the game’s 155GB pre-load files on Steam were accidentally uploaded without encryption, letting some users access the data freely. Playground Games clarified that while the encryption blunder did happen, the wider leak circulating online came from a different source entirely.

According to reports, the leaked PC build has already been cracked and is spreading across torrent sites. Videos of the game running ahead of launch started appearing on YouTube within hours of the leak going public.

What Happens If You Play the Forza Horizon 6 Leak?

The studio’s response has been firm. Playground Games said it will issue franchise-wide bans, meaning players caught with the leaked build could lose access to Forza Horizon 5, Forza Motorsport, and any future titles. Hardware bans add another layer, blocking the device itself from accessing Xbox services.

The studio added on X: “We encourage fans to sit tight for the game’s release on May 19.”

That is a week away. For most players, the risk of a permanent ban is not worth a few extra days of access.

Forza Horizon 6 Launch Date and Platforms

Forza Horizon 6 launches May 19, 2026 on Xbox Series X|S and PC. Premium Edition buyers get early access starting May 15. The game is also coming to PS5 later this year. Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass subscribers get it on day one at no extra cost.

The game is set in Japan and features over 550 cars, a revamped progression system, and the largest urban area in Forza Horizon history in the form of Tokyo.

With the launch so close, Playground Games will be hoping the leak does not spoil major story beats or dampen sales. Pre-orders on Steam have reportedly been strong, so the damage may be limited if the studio can contain the spread quickly.
