Marvel just dropped the first real trailer for Avengers: Doomsday, and honestly, it delivers. The studio premiered it during a special Doomsday Clock livestream on YouTube, right before San Diego Comic-Con kicks off, and the internet has not stopped talking about it since.
The trailer runs two minutes and 25 seconds. That’s not a lot of time, but Marvel crammed in enough reveals to keep fans debating theories for weeks. Oh, and we finally have a confirmed release date: December 18, 2026.
How It Opens
We start inside the X-Mansion with Professor X, who’s just going about his day when an explosion rips through outside. Cut to the next shot, and there he is: Doctor Doom, in full armor for the first time. His mask and suit clearly borrow from the 2022 Fantastic Four comics, and it looks sharp.
From there, things move fast. Thor shows up at the New Avengers Tower with Stormbreaker in hand, still very much in his Love and Thunder era. He’s joined by the old Avengers and the Fantastic Four, and together they brief the team on the threat headed their way.

A Packed Roster of Heroes
This is where the trailer really shows off. Shuri, M’Baku, Namor, Cyclops, Mystique, Channing Tatum’s Gambit, and Shang-Chi all make appearances, some of them squaring off against each other in quick duel shots.
But the moment fans are losing it over is Loki. He’s back in his classic TVA suit from the Loki series, seemingly free of the TVA and carrying a new title: the God of Stories. Nobody expected him to slot into this story, which is exactly why it works.
Later shots give us a tired-looking Magneto, plus Ant-Man, Falcon, Human Torch, and Invisible Woman, all thrown into the middle of the action.
Doom Is Genuinely Terrifying

If you needed proof that Doctor Doom is a real threat and not just another MCU villain who talks big and folds fast, the trailer has you covered. At one point, he blocks a full-force Stormbreaker slam from Thor using a single hand. No effort. No struggle. Just stops it cold.
That single shot does more to establish Doom’s power level than a dozen lines of dialogue could.
That Ending, Though
Save the biggest surprise for last, and Marvel absolutely did. The trailer closes on Steve Rogers, very much alive and swinging Mjolnir like it’s nothing. Thor’s reaction says it all: total shock.
It’s a big deal for another reason too. Sam Wilson has been Captain America in the MCU for a while now, so Steve’s return with Mjolnir in hand raises a lot of questions about where this leaves him.
What We Didn’t See
Here’s the thing: this trailer barely scratches the surface of the confirmed Avengers: Doomsday cast. A lot of characters are rumored to have been erased from these early shots using CGI, the same trick Sony used with Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield in the No Way Home marketing. So there’s clearly more Marvel is holding back.
When and How to Watch
Avengers: Doomsday hits theaters worldwide on December 18, 2026. It’s also set to be the first MCU movie shown in Infinity Vision, Disney’s newest theater tech, so expect a very different viewing experience than what you’re used to.
