Fortnite is currently offline, and if you’re getting the “servers not responding” error right now, you’re not alone. Epic Games took servers down on June 6 right after the Shattered live event, and players across the US, Europe, and the Middle East have been locked out ever since.
Here’s a full breakdown of what’s going on.
Why Are Fortnite Servers Down?

The downtime is scheduled. Following the conclusion of the Shattered live event, Epic pulled servers offline at 7:30 PM ET to push the v41.00 update, which kicks off Chapter 7 Season 3, subtitled Runners.
This season launch downtime is longer than a typical patch. An in-game countdown timer pointed to servers returning around 1 AM ET, though Epic hasn’t given an exact confirmed time.
What Caused the Pre-Downtime Outages?
Before tonight’s planned maintenance, Fortnite was already having a rough week. Around June 2, user reports on Downdetector hit over 1,800 complaints, with players getting stuck in queue loops and facing matchmaking failures in Battle Royale, Creative, and Save the World modes.
Epic confirmed on their status page that the issue started in the Middle East server region but spread due to traffic spikes of 30 to 50 percent during peak hours. The @FortniteStatus account on X acknowledged the problem at the time, citing matchmaking errors that forced players to queue multiple times just to find a match.
When Will Fortnite Servers Come Back Up?
Based on the in-game countdown from the Shattered event, servers are expected to go live sometime around 1 AM ET on June 6. Season launch downtimes typically run longer than regular patch windows, so don’t be surprised if it slips a bit.
Once the servers are back up, Chapter 7 Season 3: Runners will be fully live with all new content.
What’s the Next Fortnite Update After This?
The v41.10 update is scheduled for June 25, 2026. Future patch downtimes will return to the standard schedule, beginning at 4 AM ET / 1 AM PT, with matchmaking ending roughly 30 minutes before.
