It’s a huge week for gamers — and it just got even bigger. Sony has officially announced its next State of Play livestream, and it’s landing right in the middle of the Summer Game Fest 2025 madness. Mark your calendars: it goes live Wednesday, June 4 at 5PM ET.
This upcoming State of Play is expected to feature over 40 minutes of updates and reveals, focusing on “must-play” PS5 games from developers around the globe. Whether you’re in it for big AAA titles or some surprise indie darlings, there’s a good chance Sony will deliver.
Where and How to Watch State of Play
Tuning in is simple. Sony is streaming the event live on both YouTube and Twitch. If you don’t want to jump around different platforms, some websites will embed the stream directly on their pages — just look for the “Watch Live” button.
Sony is also providing English-subtitled and Japanese-language versions, making this a globally inclusive event.
What to Expect
As of now, Sony is keeping things under wraps when it comes to actual titles. But if past events are any indicator, we’re in for some major reveals. The February State of Play gave us the first glimpse of Soros, an exciting new title from Returnal developer Housemarque, along with the announcement of a Days Gone PS5 remaster and the release date for Borderlands 4.
Then in April, Sony went all in on Borderlands 4 again with a focused showcase that highlighted new gameplay footage and multiplayer mechanics.
So what could show up this time? Possibilities include:
- First looks at major upcoming PS5 exclusives
- Updates on titles like Wolverine, Silent Hill 2 Remake, or Death Stranding 2
- Surprise reveals from third-party partners
- Maybe even a tease of new hardware or PSVR2 content
It’s all speculation for now, but Sony knows the spotlight is on them this week — and they’re not likely to disappoint.
A Packed Summer Game Fest Week
Sony’s latest showcase is one part of what’s shaping up to be one of the busiest gaming weeks of the year. Just one day after State of Play, all eyes will be on Nintendo, with the expected full reveal of the Nintendo Switch 2 on June 5.
Then on Sunday, June 8, it’s Microsoft’s turn, with Xbox hosting its biggest event of the year — a full-on showcase packed with new games, Game Pass announcements, and (hopefully) more Fable and Elder Scrolls VI teases.
Between the three gaming giants, there’s no shortage of news, trailers, and surprises coming your way.
