There’s something magical about Glaciered. Maybe it’s the fact that it takes place 65 million years in the future under a frozen ocean, or maybe it’s just the way the new trailer, The Sea of Crises, captures it all with this slow, haunting beauty.

Studio Snowblind and PLAYISM quietly dropped this new Japanese trailer recently, and it’s honestly one of the most unique looks we’ve seen from an indie game this year. Instead of the usual dark sci-fi gloom, Glaciered feels almost dreamlike — you’re swimming through frozen oceans where life somehow still clings on, long after the world above turned into a frozen wasteland.

You play as Gray, part of a species called the Tuai — basically birds that evolved for life underwater (how cool is that?). Gray isn’t just gliding around either; the trailer shows him pulling off quick, deadly attacks with his shimmering crystalline wings. It’s a strange mix of graceful and brutal, like ballet fighting with knives.

One thing that really stood out? Gray has a tiny companion named Pui who helps out by lighting the deep dark spaces and even gaining powers from whatever sea creatures you find. It gives the game this weirdly cozy vibe — you’re not just fighting, you’re exploring a world that feels alive, even if it’s clinging to survival by a thread.

The Japanese voice acting also deserves a shoutout. Tatsunori Fukusato voices Gray, and Asuka Itou plays The Seeker. Even in just a short trailer, there’s a weight to their performances — you can tell this isn’t just an action game; it’s going to have heart.

Glaciered is heading to PC via Steam sometime in 2025. No hard release date yet, but judging from the buzz already building, it’s probably going to be worth the wait.

If you haven’t seen it yet, the trailer is worth a few minutes of your time. You can watch it here. Just don’t be surprised if you find yourself daydreaming about underwater worlds afterward.
