Rockstar Games has yet to reveal its plans for GTA 6’s multiplayer mode, but a new detail on the official PlayStation Store could have answered one of the biggest questions surrounding the game.
According to the store listing, Grand Theft Auto VI is being marketed as a single-player experience, suggesting that GTA Online may not be available when the game launches on November 19, 2026.

PlayStation Store Points to a Solo Launch
Fans have been eagerly waiting to learn when the next version of GTA Online will arrive. While Rockstar has stayed quiet on the topic, the FAQ section on GTA 6’s PlayStation Store page appears to offer an important clue.
Instead of mentioning multiplayer support, the listing describes GTA 6 as a single-player game.
That likely means players will only be able to experience the story campaign at launch, with no online component available on day one.

GTA Online Could Still Arrive Later
A delayed online release wouldn’t be unusual for Rockstar.
The studio followed the same approach with both GTA 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2. In each case, the online mode was released after the base game, giving the developers additional time to prepare the servers and online features.
If Rockstar sticks to that strategy, GTA 6 Online could launch sometime after November 19.
Avoiding the Problems of GTA 5 Online
Many players still remember the rocky debut of GTA Online in 2013.
The launch was plagued by overloaded servers, connection issues, and progress loss for some players. It took time before the experience became stable.
By launching GTA 6 as a single-player title first, Rockstar may be trying to avoid repeating those issues and ensure the online experience is ready before millions of players jump in.
Rockstar Has Bigger Plans for GTA 6 Online
Previous Rockstar job listings have hinted that the company wants GTA 6’s online experience to be much bigger than before.
Reports have suggested Rockstar hopes to build a platform that can compete with games like Roblox and Fortnite by expanding user-generated content.
Gaming personality Gerard Williams, better known as HipHopGamer, has also claimed that GTA 6’s user-generated content tools could help creators earn substantial income.
Because of that, many fans believe Rockstar could introduce GTA 6 Online around the same time the game eventually launches on PC. However, the company has not officially confirmed those plans.

For Now, Patience Is the Only Option
Nothing has been announced by Rockstar regarding GTA 6 Online’s release date, but the PlayStation Store listing strongly suggests that the online mode won’t be part of the initial launch.
If that’s the case, players can expect to enjoy the single-player adventure first while waiting for Rockstar to reveal its long-term multiplayer roadmap.
